Camille Rowe x So It Goes

The awesome Camille Rowe for the even more awesome So It Goes magazine. Does it get any better?

Shot by Guy Aroch and styled by the brilliant Liz Mclean, I immediately loved this shoot Jamie did in New York for the the latest issue. Even if it does remind me even more keenly that I really need to get myself over to NYC this year if it kills me...

This is just one of many editorials from the new issue of So It Goes I'm looking forward to sharing with you guys... Yes I'm biased, but it is unequivocally great so I'm 100% allowed to be.
It hits newsstands in the U.K tomorrow and then the rest of the world over the next few weeks. You can also order your copy online here.
It looks pretty damn fine on a coffee table too....

Get it while its hot.

Starting the Day Right

I've been promising on Instagram to start doing some recipes and food posts and I figured breakfast was a pretty appropriate way to get the ball rolling... You definitely can't call most of these 'recipes' per se (looking at you boiled eggs), more of a breakdown of favourite ways to start the day. And as a clinical night owl, mornings are not my forte so anything that encourages me to get out of the duvet den is a winner.

Saying that, I'm a huge advocate of the age-old 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day' motto...  I was renowned at university for having a boiled egg every morning and took this habit down to London with me when I first stated working. After a year or so though I slipped into the inevitable cereal bar/croissant/vanilla latte black hole, or occasionally getting 'breakfast' at about 11 A.M, by which time I was exhausted and running on empty. Energy, appetite, mood, skin and immune system - just a few things I now know improve ten fold if I eat a good, filling breakfast every morning. Beware to anyone around a hangry me in the morning....

These are the breakfasts that get me going from Monday to Friday (weekends in my eyes are strictly for fry-ups, pancakes and anything bacon-based) and take into account goodness, energy and effort involved (preferably minimum), all key when you're trying to get out of the door in the morning.

1. Mashed avocado on oatcakes. I used to get a few strange look as work when I'd have this at my desk, but it's definitely worth it. Beats cardboard cereal handsdown and is really easy to make in your office kitchen. Mashed one small avocado up with rapeseed oil, chilli flakes and some salt and smear over as many rough cut oatcakes as it will fill. I like mine with a side of strawberries (when in season) and ginger tea.

2. Almond Berry Breakfast Smoothie. One of my favourite things to whip up in my Nutri-bullet (apologies if I sound like the shopping channel but I get asked quite a bit what blender I use). Personally, I always need carbs in the morning so I throw oats and chia seeds into this to make it more filling. I don't really use a recipe and kind of worked it out through trial and error but to give you an idea, it goes something like this...

Handful of berries (blackberries, bluebrries, raspberries - whatever you prefer or have in the fridge)
Teaspoon on almond butter
Heaped spoonful of jumbo rolled oats
Heaped spoonful of milled chia seeds
Sprinkling of cinnamon
Teaspoon of vanilla essence or paste
Cover with unsweetened almond milk and blitz....

3. Boiled eggs and soldiers (my staple). If you can start the day with an egg or two, do. They're so good for you and contrary to popular belief, they won't make your cholesterol sky rocket. It's not always possible time-wise I know, but unlike other types of eggs, at least you can be getting ready for the 5 minutes your egg takes to boil. For my toast, I like soda bread or some sort of spelt/oat-based wholegrain with proper butter.

4. Quinoa fig granola. After a winter of eating like I'm going into hibernation, I always find myself getting back into granola and cereal in the spring. This is my personal favourite combination... Greek, natural or coconut yoghut (whichever you prefer), quinoa flakes and grapenuts, all mixed up topped off with figs. Some cinnamon or honey works wonders for the sweet-toothed among us too. I'm not much of a nut eater (can just about stretch to an almond) but I imagine pistachios, walnuts or almonds would all be delicious in this.

5. Scrambled eggs with spinach and tomatoes. This is the kind of hearty breakfast I'd try and have if I had a big day ahead or knew I wouldn't be eating lunch for a while... Before heading to the airport for a flight for example (although I'll let you off if you're up at 4 to get to Stanstead). I just throw some raw baby spinach into the eggs when they're still liquid in the pan and let them cook through together. Mix this up as much as you want - maybe add some chilli or feta to your eggs or sub out the toast for an extra egg if you're not as much of a carb monster in the morning.

And of course, no morning is complete without a big cup of tea....

Spring favorites

                                                                                                   ph. me

In last couple weeks I ended up with three not the same at all tops from Mango.
After I bought the white one and wore it few days in a row, I immediately knew that it's perfect time to grab in gray color too. And then I realized that they made one more version of it, with more ruffles, so I needed to take her with me.
Now, I have similar not the same  tops and they became my favorites for spring. In the next post you will see why!

Please, tell me that you are doing the same thing when you are obsessed with some item or it's just me?!

Online clicking can be defined as a new Olympic discipline.
So let's start one more exercise, gold medals are waiting for us in the future. ;)
1. How to make beachy waves - You are still asking me about my hair and how I'm making those messy curls, so HERE it is one more time. Everything is the same except my hair length.
2. Weekend travel look - if you are traveling somewhere for a weekend, HERE are some suggestions of what to bring and wear.
3. How to get makeup stains out of anything - while I was browsing through some articles, I ran into this one (haven't try it yet) and I thought that it's a good thing to know, just in case.
4. My week in heels - lovely Sabrina from Afterdrk.com took a challenge and tried to wear heels for a whole week and what happened during that period read on her blog. Love her honest thoughts about expensive shoes (like Prada and CL) and how uncomfortable they are while all the other ladies pretend.
5. Aging starts around 29?! - Google, stop showing me these signs articles, I know I'm getting old! As a girl who will turn exactly 29 this year I'm scared as s...t. but luckily I bumped into one more great text so I will give my best to start using at least three facial products on a daily base. Not giving a pinkie promise yet.

And that's it for tonight. If you have something interesting feel free to share it with me!

Raspberry and mascarpone cheese jars

                                                                                             ph. me

This rainy day is perfect to prepare something yummy with raspberries!
Find some cute little jars and be ready for whipping.
Let's start!
Ingredients (depends on the number of jars or size of your serving bowl)
frozen or fresh raspberries 300gr
1 cup of sugar
mascarpone cheese 250gr
cream for whipping 250ml
3 vanilla puddings
milk 1200 ml
butter 50gr

Raspberry filling:
Put the raspberries and sugar in a small pan on a low heat and leave it to warm up. Once the cream
is just starting to steam, stir it until you get the desired thickness. After that,  remove it from the heat to cool it down.

Mascarpone cheese filling:
Whip the cream and mash it with the cheese.

Vanilla filling:
If you have enough time, you can prepare regular filling with eggs, but if you are in the hurry, you can cheat a little bit and make it with vanilla puddings. ;) Instead of regular way (500ml of milk per one pudding), prepare three puddings with 1200 ml of milk. You will get thicker filling. Then put aside to cool to room temperature but not set. Add the butter to sit until it melts.

After you prepare these three cremes, start filling the jars : raspberries, vanilla, mascarpone and repeat it (you can make your own order of course). And that's it!
Serve it cold!

And now, let's talk about my fridge and nutrition cause you were asking me a lot about my weight and how I'm managing to stay fit despite the fact that I eat lot of yummy things.
Couple days ago I published one photo on the Instagram and you really like it - What's in my fridge as the new What's in my bag! ;)
Lots of vegetables, fruits, cheese, sour creams and yogurts are groceries that I use on a daily base most of the time. Occasionally I eat junk food too, but I suppose that's a good balance. ;)
Instead of bunch of sweets from the store I pick home made cakes or cookies. And that's pretty much it.

If you try the recipe, let me know how do you like it!

                                                                                              -------------------------------

umutite slatku pavlaku u srednje čvrstu smesu.
