Melbourne Spring Fashion Week Runway One - Dom Bagnato

Romanticism was the theme for the night and the sharp sophistication of tartan shades of blues, greys and hues of coral and pink were what stood out in the runway collection for Dom Bagnato. It was MSFW Runway 1 on Tuesday and they were 5th on the list of designers appearing on the catwalk, but it's what drew my anticipation the most, and it didn't fail to deliver.

The style and sophistication of this collection makes me want to buy every single piece on offer.

But what really makes this brand great? It would have to be the designers themselves. Dom Bagnato and his son Nunzio bring classic Italian tailoring and style to menswear. The brand has earnt numerous accolades in fashion and going by these looks that went down the runway, you can see why.

They have taken the very on trend blue and grey suit and amped it up with a subtle and softer colour pallette for spring. Of course whilst continuing to bring you black and white formal wear as well.

I'm excited to follow this label and find out where to next.

The Dom Bagnato label is sold through in store boutiques at Myer throughout Australia as well as other boutiques across Australia and New Zealand.

What's hot in 2014

Tartan
Born from UK street fashion, Tartan is the latest trend for men in 2014, not only in street wear but it's making it's prominent appearance in sharply suit wear and high fashion. Tartan or Check, however you may wish to refer to it as - is on trend!

The Under Cut:
The latest trend in men's hairstyle, The Undercut. Evolving from the previous hair trend examples such as the pompadour, or gadsby, the introduction of the undercut adds a slightly more tidier, sophisticated and of course sharp look. Other contributions to this hair trend is the fade and dare I say the Man Bun

Colin Farrell wears the undercut and man bun

Loafers
This trend is no longer reserved for satin robe wearing, cigar smoking rich old dudes. Wearing sockless loafers is the must do in 2014. The loafers can be worn dressed up with a smart sharp suit or dressed down with a pair of chinos or shorts. The brighter the loafer the trendier the look. Get your pair today!

Short Suits
Although I'm sure Arthur Galan designed a great designer short suit in 2012 ( yes I bought it and worked it out at the 2012 Melbourne cup Spring carnival) this appears to be a new trend for 2014. Who'd a thunk? Sic

Perhaps Australia or Melbourne was ahead if it's time. Can you be too fashion forward? In any case, I'll be bringing my AG tartan short suit out this summer for sure.

Proof I wore short suits and tartan in 2012..........wait........AND LOAFERS!!!

Holidays are Coming

It's only a week till I'm off to Morocco, so obviously I've starting laying things out in collage format. As you do.

This trip's been on the cards for what feels like forever, but was only finalized last week so it feels kind of surreal to think we'll be in 35 degree heat this time next week. Surreal and terrifying. Factor 50 is the first thing going in my case.... We'll be traveling a lot but am hoping we'll still find time to lie like lizards by a pool, read a book or two and, fingers crossed, horse ride in the dunes. Something I've been fantasizing about since we booked....

Can't wait to finally put some of my favourite summer pieces to good use in the desert heat.

T-Shirt Weather

T-shirt weather is a wonderful thing and I got my first taste of it this year in Barcelona. Scorching summer heat is great, but there's something so nice about being able to wander around sans jacket happy as a clam. And yes, I'm fully aware that statement makes me sound about 40 years my senior.

Is this a really British thing?  Maybe so. Leaving the house without a jacket in tow is a rare act in blighty, and one that's normally regretted. The fact we spent two thirds of the year breathing into our scarves, and the other third sweating on the tube perhaps means we're forever in awe/jealous of those who get reliably warm, balmy days come Spring. I'll stop sounding like my mother now.

Silk LNA trousers, gazelles and a faithtful white tee proved the perfect basics to tackle a full-on working day in BCN. This particular tee is from the HnM conscious collection and is an absolute fave, perfect in every way, the only downer being I had to go up to 3 sizes to get the right loose fit. Regardless, it still proved the perfect tee in which explore the city for the first time.

These were shot in the Raval area, one of my favourites in Barcelona. We picked up green juices and sat outside MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Arts) watching the ever present skaters, vowing to get really good once we got home.

Camille Rowe x So It Goes

The awesome Camille Rowe for the even more awesome So It Goes magazine. Does it get any better?

Shot by Guy Aroch and styled by the brilliant Liz Mclean, I immediately loved this shoot Jamie did in New York for the the latest issue. Even if it does remind me even more keenly that I really need to get myself over to NYC this year if it kills me...

This is just one of many editorials from the new issue of So It Goes I'm looking forward to sharing with you guys... Yes I'm biased, but it is unequivocally great so I'm 100% allowed to be.
It hits newsstands in the U.K tomorrow and then the rest of the world over the next few weeks. You can also order your copy online here.
It looks pretty damn fine on a coffee table too....

Get it while its hot.

Life on Wheels

This isn't the first time my penny board has featured in posts, but I promise it ain't just a prop. I've been trying (but primarily failing) out life on wheels ever since I was given it a few weeks ago. Why you may ask. Beats walking for one thing, and Spring is always an apt time to metaphorically dust off winter's cobwebs by trying new things and generally reminding yourself you're not boring, cynical and old just yet. Not all the time anyway. Plus, laughing at yourself being truly rubbish at something is always good for the soul.
