I've never been a huge fan of brown bags, but after seeing these three ladies pair them up with a grey look, I can't get enough of the combo. They have me convinced to give a small brown leather bag a try with a grey tee, blazer or shirt dress this spring and summer.

High Low Dressing

A bit of extra hardware and detail goes a long way in winter.

The black-grey winter canvas is so much more appealing when a bit of gleaming metal or embossed leather is thrown into the mix. Plus, finishing of with something ever-so-slightly more showy means you can get away with slumming it in whatever’s warmest everywhere else. Win win.

Enter Kurt Geiger, whose accented accessories are going to save me from descending into total drudgery this season. This backpack is basically a reasonably priced version of the infamous crocodile sack from The Row, while the boots would be just flashy enough with grey skinny jeans and a long, wool Crombie coat.

Key to Freedom

If you buy one thing this week, make it one of these printed silk scarves by Topshop made in conjunction with Key to Freedom, a charity project that works to support vulnerable women in West Bengal by providing them with new skills, safe houses and a support network.

Supporting those less fortunate than ourselves is always a good thing, but its made even better when the charitable purchase in question actually looks great and I think this project in particular manages to marry lovely design with a brilliant cause. I'm not a massive scarf person myself but these are big enough to use as a sarong on the beach and light enough to knot into a head scarf or turban (I actually feel a bit naked without something wrapped around my head on holiday right now).  Plus the beautiful Indian prints and tie-dye patterns are so summery and timeless I can see these becoming one of those failsafe things you throw in your suitcase year after year.

You can read more about Topshop's Key to Freedom project on the Topshop blog.

My personal favorites are the Pink Fern Print and Green Tie Dye.

Summer Accessories Edit

In the thick of summer I tend to live in the same old, same old. Namely grey marl t-shirts by LNA, vintage denim cut-offs and throw-on jersey dresses. So the only way to make it all feel kind of fresh is the odd new accessory thus I decided to pull together my current wish-list of extras and add-ons in case you too are in need of an update or two.

Bracelet with shell / Aurelie Biderman @ Matches (Sale)
Bracelet with tassel / Isabel Marant @ Matches (Sale)
Necklace / Jessica Zeuner
Espadrilles / Whistles

It's Time

I've subconsciously stopped wearing my gold Michael Kors chronograph watch recently. I think mainly because yellow gold next to sallow winter skin is never that appealing, and partly due to the gold just feeling a bit 'much' of late.

I've always been drawn to two-tone metal watches and was originally looking for a gun metal/rose-gold combination prior to buying my MK gold one, but failed to find one that ticked the boxes for both looks and price.

Well, it looks like Mr. Kors read my mind on this one, with yet another covetable, affordable watch to hanker after. Time* for an update me thinks.

Just leave one for me....

*Apologies for the toe-curling puns. The lowest form of wit, or so I'm frequently told, and yet so hard to avoid/resist.
