Bittersweet

If you follow me on instagram, I apologise. The last 5 days have been an endless stream on glittering canals, blue skies, opulent mosaics, brightly-coloured gelato and general heavenly pursuits in Venice. I couldn't have fallen for this city more if I tried and am far from ready to come home. But go home I must, and one of the great things about my job is I get to re-live it all when I'm back on here. Really can't wait to go through all our photos and share them with you asap.... 

 
Now, time to catch a plane and sob into my last cup of Italian ice cream. In the meantime, I'll leave you with THE view of Venice taken from the Academia bridge. Told you; heaven.

Today, I'm sharing with you couple of photos from new INES atelier collection for AW14/15 which is better than ever! Definitely my favorite so far! Can't stop staring at them! Clothes, poses, hair&make up, location it's superb!
Maxi dresses, pencils skirts mixed with leather jackets and lace with exquisite details on every single piece, what's not to love?! And how about their jewelry? I want everything!

Games Kit and Gazelles

Black, white, denim; it's no secret these are three of my favourite things. But throw in some pieces with a hint of a 1970s's sports hall about them and it suddenly feels new(ish). After the repetitive  groundhog day that was the Zara skort, I never thought I'd succumb to the annoying hybrid garment again. And I never even had said skort. Thankfully, these call themselves shorts so I think they're safe. Oh, and next time you're in Topshop, check out its male equivalent. Hear me out... Topman is pretty much an untapped goldmine in terms of outerwear; think suede biker jackets, wool bombers and leathers. Topman's generally cut quite small so you don't need to go down a million sizes to get it to fit too.

And the retro Adidas gazelles? While everyone and anyone gets on board the Stan train, my affections have gravitated towards this long-standing Originals staple that's been nonchalantly hanging out in the wings; the quiet yet cool kid in the corner if you will. Plus, I've always had a thing for black trainers over white, so when it came down to it, these won out. Sorry Stan.

Perricone MD Icons

I'm a big advocate for investing in skincare products and (annoyingly) always encourage people to take the plunge where possible. With makeup, I have a few core products like Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser and By Terry concealer, but am happy to pick up extra bits from Topshop and Boots. But I always think you get what you pay for with skincare, and higher-quality-products actually work out more economical as you only need a few drops, whereas cheaper products are often bulked out with synthetics and require more to make a difference. I have some products that last almost a year as a little several times a week is enough to do the good they're intended to. 

Case in point, these Perricone MD products I've just discovered. I'm new to the brand but am aware it has gained cult-like status with many, and I can see why. I mean, these products are game-changers... A gel cleanser that feels creamy and doesn't leave your face feeling parched, tight or sensitised, a serum that smells like marzipan and delivers all the goodness of chia seeds to your skin, and finally a moisturiser that is basically great skin in a pot. The apothecary-style packaging looks great on the bathroom shelf too - a superficial plus I'm sure any fellow Aesop fans can get on board with.

Boy Clothes

O.K not real boy clothes, but they definitely have the proportions of those normally associated with the (un)fairer sex. And by proportions I clearly mean baggy, saggy and generally oversized. There's something seriously comforting about wearing everything just a little bit bigger than usual; it's almost like a layer of anonymity for those days when you feel like leaving lots to the imagination. Vintage denim and the softest, chunkiest (and sustainably produced) knit are proving a favourite pairing right now, and it ain't half as unflattering as you might think, especially when finished off with patent leather for just a little polish amidst all the androgyny.

Tibi AW 14

Tibi really stood out to me from the New York shows; modern layers, relaxed silhouettes and an emphasis on comfort that immediately (and predictably) resonated with me. Greys, camels, slinky monochrome separates and mid-wash denim all felt like elevated versions of what I already own and just the sought of pieces I gravitate towards in store. And can we just take a moment to soak in the wonder that is the top hat-fedora-boater hybrid?

Pleased to see the old mule is staying put for next season too... Biding my time (and toes) till I go for the current Zara offerings that everyone and anyone is getting on board with. Saying that, my Marant slides will of course be getting first dibs when it comes to open-toe outings this Spring. Eagerly waiting in the wings as we speak.
