Top Love

Could this be Topshop's most exciting designer collaboration since Kate Moss's first ever collection launch?

I've long had serious love for Pamela Love's west-coast take on Gothic Bohemia so will be there with bells on when her much-anticipated collection for Topshop lands in stores on May 19th (to the best of my knowledge!).

(If she does a take on the infamous claw bracelet for the collection I will have died and gone to bird-foot heaven)

Everything has a real Navajo/Native American feel with flashes of turquoise and feather dream-catcher pieces which couldn't be better timed.  It feels as though everyone is loving Americana right now, especially with Coachella kicking off Festival season last week in all it's Woodstock-inspired glory, and looking forward to A/W 11 already where the likes of Isabel Marant wowed with Native American printed jeans and jackets.

Something tells me this is going to fly so put in the diary now!

new shiny things

Some new things I can't get enough of right now, the shiniest of them all being my new gold Michael Kors chronograph watch from www.my-wardrobe.com.  I've been looking for a good chunky, masculine watch (at a purse friendly price) for so long.  It got so desperate I started wearing my mum's way too tiny and tight two-tone Seiko from the late 1990s, so I was pretty relieved when I finally plucked up the courage to take the plunge and invest in this one.  I took a couple of days wondering if I should have gone for the Rose gold but, after a few days procrastinating, I settled on the yellow gold, or, as my dad described it, 'blingtastic'!

You can maybe just make out I'm wearing rolled up baggy jeans in the bottom pic.  I've discovered a new love for the the almost indecently low-slung, surfer-girl pantaloons I was addicted to in my late teens and literally cannot tear myself away from these Unisex American Apparel numbers.   Tomato-red, low-rise, saggy crotch and no doubt pretty unflattering, I just love 'em.

threads

Bright, braided friendship bracelets are a permanent fixture on my wrists right now (pick some of your own up from Urban Outfitters and Primark).
The little red peace sign thread is from one of my favorite local boutiques in London, Indian Summer.  Full to the brim of amazing cashmere, silk beach dresses, balinese-printed parasols and rose-scented candles, I recently discovered it is also a treasure trove for amazing, and most-importantly affordable, jewellery.  It's the best place to pick up bright threaded and beaded friendhsip style bracelets with peace, skull, and evil-eye charms, as well as neon thread necklaces with crosses and skulls in gold and silver.  Everytime I wear mine, I get asked where they're from and I'm always pretty smug to reveal my source is in Fulham rather than central London as deep down I really want to save them all for myself!

Shorts

These are the Marant babies I was talking about yesterday!!!

Saw and conquered these on my first sunny day in London after leaving my old job.  I thought they were the best good omen a girl could buy so snapped them up pronto...

Sickly-sweet, Angel-delight pink and perfect in cut, length and just about everything,  these are the antidepressant of shorts-who could miserable wearing a pair of these??  I haven't put them away since I bought them, just keep moving them around my room so I can stare at them adoringly.  When I think about heading to beach next week, I'm basically just thinking about prancing about in these....

Belated LFW Outift Posts

As I was a very bad blogger over not just one, but two London Fashion Weeks (if ever there's a time to be a good fashion blogger, fashion week would be it!), I thought I'd do a v belated post of some of the stuff I wore at AW11 and SS11 fashion week.

Firstly, I didn't make the top collage myself (fairly inept technology wise so wouldn't know where to start),  I have to thank Caillin of Birds of a Feather for that.  In fact, when a friend of mine sent me the link to her really sweet post the other day and I saw the collection of all my fashion week outfits I thought this should be my first dip into outfit posts....

Thanks Cailin and hope you like!

In the Gang

I might have made a little, very exciting, splurge the other day which I'll let you into tomorrow.  Let's just say I'm one step close to being in the oh-so-cool Marant gang...

Borrowing an old SLR camera from my dad so I'm going to spend tomorow morning playing around, reading the manual in the hope I can start taking some snaps of my own.  Just arrived home for 2 weeks holiday today and am already holed up by the fire, watching bad TV, eating spaghetti-bliss.

Shed Some Skin

Anyone who knows me knows I love a bit of animal print; be it classic leopard or abstract zebra, I like my spots and stripes done the wild way.  But my current beastly print of choice is definitely at the scalier end of the spectrum...

Oh-so-good on chiffons and silks (Acne are ahead of the curve as always with drapey, sheer snake print vests and belted dresses), python and croc prints almost looks like watercolour when done in slate greys and teals like this maxi skirt from Mint Velvet.  Not my usual online stomping ground, but I stumbled across it the other day whilst looking for silk shirts for a shoot and am feeling pretty pleased with myself for the find.

I'm not the only one who's fallen for the print either; one of my favorite bloggers Frances at Happy Because has already demonstrated reptile reverence in the most amazing H&M dress-check it out here

Cool Cats

The shops are filling with Royal wedding paraphenalia (Wills and Kate bunting anyone?), street parties are being planned with precision and speculation about Kate's dress (McQueen, Temperley or Oldfield-the jury's still out) is rife, but the May wedding I'm most excited about has to be THE cool couple Lily and Caleb.

Forget Westminster Abbey, who wouldn't wanna be part of the Followill-Aldridge wedding party?
